6333G Second Generation Set with a Red Monorail
Click here to see pictures of this set. |
This is a super nice set for both operation and displaying. The
red monorail is in Excellent condition, with very few nicks or
scratches. I tried to picture it from all sides and even have
an extreme close up to show one silver paint chip that is missing
on the front unit's bolster. There is a very small rub in the
silver paint in the nose area. These are extremely small defects.
Overall, the red and silver paint are Excellent. The decals are
strong. The windows are yellowing slightly, but look good and
are consistent in color. There are some wire rubs inside on the
windows of the motor unit. This unit runs great and has new wheels
installed. The brushes are almost new and will provide many hours
of operation. This is the monorail with the side weight plates
and the tail fins. ALL parts are included in the set including
the original Schuco wires. The German, 24 paged manual is in Excellent
condition, but someone did punch two holes in the one side so
it could be kept in a binder. As you can see from the pictures,
the graphic on the lid is bright and in Very Good condition. There
is tape on all the corners and one tear on the top of the lid
at far bottom right hand side. This has been taped underneath.
Because it is following along the corner of the box, it is not
very noticeable. The one side of the lid has the red dot which
indicates that a red monorail is inside! I would have probably
listed the condition of this set at Excellent minus except for
the grooves someone put in the styrofoam insert. My son had paid
$675 for our first G set in the mid 1990's at the Great Train
Expo in Denver. It needed some work and cleaning. For less than
that price, this set is ready to be run and be displayed at your
home! |

(10 per box). That's over 30 boxes and over 500 pieces!!!!
Most of these items are unused and have been sitting in these
boxes for over 40 years. However, age has still affected the items.
For example, almost all of the cellophane bags were so brittle
that they literally crumbled in my hands when I inspected them.
The pieces inside the bags are fine. I understand that this is
a major purchase, and will do everything I can to make sure you
will know exactly what you are getting. THIS IS ALSO A MAJOR OPPORTUNITY!
It has taken me years to collect what is now being offered in
one lot.
I do not have enough items to duplicate this offer! I will leave
this offer on my website as long as I can. I will start going
to train shows in the Fall and am sure someone will jump at this
offer there! Don't be disappointed! |

Sky Blue 3 car Mark I Monorail
A 3 car sky blue monorail with tail fins and weights, all ready
to operate on your layout. There are several paint chips and some
rust on some of the skirts and weight plates. Don't let this scare
you. When I took this one apart, the brushes looked new, so the
monorail saw little use or someone replaced the brushes. The decals
are all present and the lettering is pretty good on the skirts.
The windows are still white also. So there are a lot of good points
with this monorail, too. I would have no problem running and displaying
this unit on any of my traveling layouts! Of course it has new
wheels installed, has been oiled, and tested. This one runs a
little slower than most monorails for some reason, so make sure
you have a transformer that puts out at least 20 volts for this
one. For those operators who love to try to run the Schuco monorails
at scale speeds, you may like this one better, but it isn't that
slow! |

Red 3 car Mark I Monorail
A 3 car red Mark I monorail that runs super great. The front car
has the Phillips screws in it, so it is one of the last models
made--very heavy. Train does include the front weight plates and
the rear tail fins. This unit looks like someone tried to spot
paint some areas, including a crack in the back of the motor car
which runs almost half of the unit. The plastic in the bubble
area has been smashed some. I bought this unit thinking I may
paint it a "Monorail Gold," but after examing it more, it just
isn't bad enough to repaint. The skirts are pretty good, with
the lettering worn on just one. Window are yellow. The problem
with even poorer condition monorails is that the parts are still
worth a lot! If no one seems interested in this Mark I for this
price, maybe I'll change my mind about making it "Monorail Gold." |

Silver 3 car Mark I Monorail
It is tough finding a super nice silver monorail. That is because
the silver paint is so easily scratched, nicked, and chipped.
This is one of the nicest silver Mark I monorails I have had for
sale. You will not find one much better. It does have a couple
of light scratches on the red rear nose and some scratches on
the skirts. These are all very minor overall in the Excellent
condition monorail. The windows are white and all consistant in
color. The silver paint is also a consistent color throughout.
The monorail has the weights and tail fins as all silver monorails
do. This silver monorail is the version without the lip going
over the bulbs. Of course it runs great and has new rubber wheels
installed. This is a monorail I would consider putting in my collection
and I hope you will consider it, too! |

4 car Mark II Blue Monorail!!
A super nice, duller blue, Mark II monorail with original connecting
bolster. Okay, it isn't perfect, but darn close. The paint is
smooth with very few knicks. The windows are white, and there
are some rubs on the front motor unit windows, probably from the
wires inside. You have to really look close to see the flaws in
this monorail. All the blues match fairly well, decals are present,
has weights, and tail fins. The unit runs great, and of course
has new wheels installed. You better buy this one before I retire
it in my collection and keep it for myself. |

Red middle car. Red paint is very good. The red stripes on the
skirts are a faded yellowish orange. This unit does NOT have the

models did not have. Windows are white. Will look nice on your
red monorail and if you have the connecting bolster, will make
your Mark I into a Mark II. |

How many of these have you seen in past 3 years? And in the original
box to boot! This is a dull blue middle car with an original bolster.
Windows are white. Overall condition is very close to Excellent,
but there are a few knicks if you really study it hard. I'll list
it at Very Good+. There is some writing on the box, but it is
crisp. It also has the label on it AND the original blue dot.
There is no cardboard insert inside. You won't find too many nicer
than this one. |

| NOTE ON TRACK and PINS |
Schuco did not give center pins with their track, at least not
through most of its production of the monorails. They did include
a pin later because the warning label that you had to purchase
a #19 was not on the late 60's boxes. Usually, pins had to be
purchased separately. However, my price includes one center pin with any track you purchase. That is a dollar savings!
Switches will have 5 pins included. ALL OF MY BRASS TRACK COMES
TO YOU CLEAN AND SHINY, READY FOR YOU TO USE. I do not know of
anyone else who will make this claim!!! |

of the last ones made by Schuco with the raised upper rails. The

Schuco put some of their straight tracks in a #16 insulated track

faint "5" stamped over it. Nice box to add to a collection and
great tracks to add to a layout! |

FOURTEEN pieces of straight/brass track in a box. Yes, this has
a Schuco #1 label on it. The "10" is crossed off and a "14" is
marked in its place. The label does NOT have the picture of the
track on it, just the words. I am fairly confident that this box
came from Schuco this way. It is probably some of the last track
shipped out from the factory and Schuco was just getting rid of
inventory, thus used a #2 box for straight track. The track in
this box is probably mint and have the raised top rails. The box
does have some flaws including one inside side tab missing of
the checkered box, and one tab missing of the cardboard insert.
One end flap is taped from the inside and so is the one tab of
the cardboard insert. When this box is closed, it looks great,
just like a box sitting on the hobby store shelf for 40 years
collecting dust! All these flaws mentioned are on the inside.
I am sure you will be happy with this unique addition to your
collection. |

Block signal--Guaranteed to work. These are getting harder and
harder to find and many of the ones you are finding don't work
or have broken pegs. This unit has to be one of the most fragile
pieces that Schuco made and are almost impossible to fix when
broken. This one had a lot of melt marks from the wire wrapped
around the stem. I tried to smooth out as much as possible. Still,
not terrible and will look great on your layout. |

| NOTE ON #150's |
The Schuco transformer is by far the best choice to run your monorails.
It has all the correct voltages that you need. However, over the
years, the bridge rectifiers in these transformers are drying
out. They can be repaired, but you have to drill out rivets to
get inside the transformer. Parts to repair them are around $6.00,
so it is an inexpensive fix, but the look of the transformer will
more than likely be forever changed. Because you never know when
the original rectifiers will go out, I cannot guarantee the transformers
for a length of time. I will however guarantee that when they
arrive to your location, they will be working. This way you take
no risk at that time. Also, as with any toy train transformer,
the operator is responsible for unpluging it when not in use.
An unattended old transformer is just asking for trouble!
The 220 transformers are starting to get harder to find, but are
still less expensive than the 110's. Consider buying a converter
and a 220 volt transformer. You could probably buy two 220 volt
transformers, the converter, and a multi-plug for less than one
110 volt transformer. |

110 volt Schuco monorail transformer. These are super hard to
find. This one is in excellent shape. I have tested it with a
voltmeter and everything checks out perfectly. Someone did try
to open this one up by prying a little on the front end. I don't
know why they wanted to open it since it works fine, but the signs
are obvious. This is the only thing wrong with this transformer.
I am still confident that this transformer is fine, so I will
guarantee it for 90 days if you decide to get it. That means if
it quits working, just send it back and I'll refund your money.
I'll even pay for the shipping for its return. Who else will do
that with a 40 year old transformer? You are still responsible
for unplugging it when you are not using it. |
Good only because of the pry marks which are underneath and a
little mark on the top above the rivet. Otherwise would be Excellent. |

| MRC TechII Loco Motion 1500 transformer |
This is the closest modern transformer I can find to the Schuco
#150. It has a 20 volt DC variable output, a 17 volt AC fixed
output, and a 22 volt DC fixed output. So the variable output
is about 9 volts less than the #150, the AC is about 2 volts higher,
and the fixed DC is around 5 volts lower. I have used these on
a couple of layouts, and they run the monorails and switches fine.
The two extra volts does not seem to bother the block signals.
This is a fun transformer to operate! It has a Momentum function which when turned on, gradually lowers
or raises the speed of the monorail. It has a Brake function which
slowly stops the monorail. Unfortunately, this transformer is
no longer in production, but is still readily available. I believe
it retailed for as much as $59 when new. I've checked these out
and they are guaranteed to work when they arrive at your layout!
They originally came with a 5 year warranty, so they must have
been a pretty reliable unit. MRC is still in business today, so
even if you ever had a problem in the future, I am guessing you
could send it in for repairs. All units are 110 volts. |

| LGB 50081 transformer |
According to the electronic experts, this is the best modern transformer
to run the monorails. The output is 24 volts DC and has the cleanest
and most consistant output compared to several other transformer
models. These are no longer made, but still seem to be readily
available. Originally they sold for around $75 and still bring
close to that price on Ebay. This is a used one I found and looks
really good. Someone spilled epoxy or glue on the cord, but it
does not affect its performance in any way and did not eat into
the cord or anything. I've tested an used it, and the output checks
out fine. There is only one output on this transformer, and it is a DC variable
one. Therefore, you would only use it to power the track. |

video. This is the last copy that I have. |

| The Disneyland Monorail Story DVD |
Extinct Attractions produces this wonderful documentary about
the Disneyland monorail. Bob Gurr, the Disney Imagineer of the
original monorail, and many more notables take you down the historical
path of this great mode of transportation. And, oh yes, I have
about 45 seconds of fame in the video, too! The documentary is
over an hour and a half long and is very detailed in the history
of the Disney monorail and others connected with it, including
those in Florida, Washington, and Nevada. If you like monorails,
you will love this video. This is a reissue of this video series
and now only contains one DVD. There are a few bonus features,
but the main attraction is the documentary. Enjoy! |
